COMMENTARY
It has not been an easy couple of weeks for Newcastle United fans and you only have to wonder how the players at St James’ Park are feeling. They say a picture tells a thousand words so judging from what the club posted on their official Twitter account on Thursday, the squad – or at least the five photoed on their return to training – looked quite happy. You would imagine that it is not quite as clear cut as that though, with no first-team manager in place and some of their star players from last season either gone or close to going. The fans wasted no time in taking aim at the club on Twitter, many joking that they were turning up only to hand in a transfer request. There will be a lot of uncertainty in the dressing room, that much is for sure, and the longer there is a lack of clarity the more players will be thinking about a potential move elsewhere. The supporters are fuming and the sooner there is a definitive decision made on both the managerial situation and the takeover, the better for everyone involved with Newcastle United. The transfer requests might not be in just yet but do not rule out a much-changed squad for next season.
