OPINION

If Perez has a release clause that stands at £30million, then there is not too much that Newcastle can do other than accept Leicester’s offer. It looks bad because do not have a manager at the moment, but even if they did have a new boss, they would be obliged to let the Foxes talk with Perez because of this clause. It’s not ideal, but this is the kind of news that Newcastle fans just come to expect now a day as the circus behind the scenes continues. Perez cannot be blamed if he wants to join Leicester. They’re a well-run club who are miles ahead of Newcastle in terms of quality and ambition. He might not play as much for the Foxes than he would at St James’ Park, but fans shouldn’t expect plays to stick around when even some of them supporters are also giving up hope on their club. What a mess this summer is turning into.
