Steve Bruce has given Newcastle United the green light to make multiple new signings over the coming days, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claims that Joelinton’s move from Hoffenheim to St James’ Park would go ahead once Bruce has been appointed as the Magpies’ new manager.

It is understood that the 22-year-old Brazilian is not the only player who is expected to sign for Newcastle before the summer transfer window slams shut after Bruce’s thumbs-up.

OPINION

Newcastle are the only team in the Premier League that hasn’t signed a new player so far this summer, so this report by Luke Edwards is a welcome piece of news for fans wondering who will even be playing for them next season. Newcastle have seen a number of players, as well as Rafa Benitez, leave St James’ Park since last season ended so several new players will be needed. Newcastle basically need new players in every position except for at centre-back and in goals. Joelinton is a good start but Bruce and Steve Nickson need to also add to what is currently a threadbare midfield and add to their currently underwhelming – to put it mildly – full-back options. Newcastle need to get a jog on though because leaving business until the latter part of the window could be problematic and may leave new signings to struggle to adapt to life at a new club.
