West Bromwich Albion attacker Salomon Rondon reacted to Newcastle United’s announcement on Rafa Benitez’s future by taking to social media to wish him all the best.

The 29-year-old forward, who spent his 2018/19 campaign on loan with the Magpies, shared he simply had to say that Benitez deserves huge credit for what the club achieved in their latest campaign.

Rondon then added that he was confident that Benitez would be successful in his next job before directly wishing the best for him.

“I must say that deserves huge credit for what our team achieved last season, and I’m sure he’ll have success in his next job. All the best, gaffer!” wrote Rondon, via his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

Newcastle United announced on Monday via their official website that Benitez would leave the club on June 30th when his contract expires, and it seems everyone is coming out of the woodwork to give their opinion. However, it’s no surprise that Rondon has acted quickly to praise Benitez. The attacker shone brightly while working with the Newcastle manager in his latest campaign as he managed to score 11 goals in 32 Premier League outings. Rondon has never managed that many goals in a single Premier League season before, and even managed to rack up seven assists to go with his goals. While the 29-year-old deserves credit for raising his game, you have to assume the forward appreciates Benitez for helping get the best out of him. With Benitez gone from the club, you feel the Magpies’ chances of signing Rondon from West Brom permanently have taken a hit if that was something they were considering, as clearly it would have been easier to persuade Rondon to join if a manager he respected like Benitez was in the hot seat.
