A report from the Daily Mirror emerged on Saturday night claiming that big name manager Jose Mourinho is ready for talks over the Newcastle United job should the proposed takeover of the club by the Bin Zayed Group prove successful. Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan is said to have the former Manchester United boss on his wish-list should his takeover prove successful and Rafael Benitez leaves the club. The news seemingly hasn’t gone down well with the Magpies faithful who, unsurprisingly, are all team Rafa when it comes to this one. One fan said it would be a massive own goal from the Bin Zayed Group to get rid of Benitez as essentially their first act after buying the club, and he’s right. The Spaniard is the heart and soul of the club and has united the Newcastle fanbase unlike any manager since Sir Bobby Robson. Mourinho has his own ties to the great man, of course, but for Benitez to lose his job just when Newcastle are ready to go to the next level would be extremely harsh.
