The True Geordie has taken to social media to give his verdict on the reported potential takeover of Newcastle United.

The Sun reported on Monday that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is set to sell the club to Dubai-based Sheikh Khaled Bin Zaid Al Nehayan.

The reported possible takeover is thought to be for around £350million and Khaled, who is the cousin of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour, has supposedly sent off the contracts to the Premier League to finalise the deal.

However, renowned Magpies fan and YouTube star True Geordie has taken to Twitter to give his verdict on the reported sale of the club, by saying he won’t believe it until it’s confirmed.

“3rd summer in a row we’ve heard this… believe it when it’s all confirmed by the club.” said Geordie from his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

It seems as if the True Geordie is speaking on behalf of lots of Newcastle fans with his verdict, as it seems that takeover rumours have been circulating the club for a number of years now. However, this deal seems like the most likely of the rumours to come to fruition, and it has been reported that the deal is almost finalised, assuming nothing goes wrong with the contracts in the eyes of the Premier League. This would no doubt be a breath of fresh air for the Magpies’ supporters, and the takeover has certainly been a long time coming, with lots of fans growing increasingly aggregated with the ways in which Ashley has been running the club. Until an official club announcement has been made however, nothing has changed, but it has to be said that the situation is looking positive for Newcastle fans, and if Manchester City’s takeover story is anything to go by, then they should be very, very excited.
