Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff has been linked with a summer move to Manchester United in recent weeks but the 21-year old should snub the move in favour of staying at St. James’ Park.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United have made initial enquires about signing the Magpies midfielder and are a summer suitor for the youngster.

However, this may not be the right move for Longstaff, and it could potentially halt the incredible progress that he has been making all season with Newcastle.

It’s clear to see that the 21-year old is in the future plans of Rafa Benitez, as he gifted the 21-year old his Premier League debut for Newcastle earlier in the season.

Longstaff has registered a goal and an assist in nine Premier League appearances this season, but unfortunately his campaign was cut short by a knee injury which saw him watching the end of last season from the sidelines.

If the midfielder were to make the switch to United, it could be detrimental for his career, and he would get nowhere near the same amount of game time in which he receives currently at Newcastle.

Although he could quite possibly be in the future plans of Ole Gunnar Solskjær at Old Trafford, he would have lots of competition circulating in his position, from the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matić, who are consistent starters at the club.

It may be that a summer move to Manchester would be too tempting for a young player to turn down, however snubbing the move should it come to fruition may be the most sensible thing for Longstaff to do if he wants to continue improving in the Premier League.
