Rafa Benitez has revealed the main talking point which will be discussed when he meets the Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley for a meeting next week.
The Newcastle manager has had his say on the upcoming meeting, and has stated the importance of having an understanding of the club’s transfer policy as the summer window edges closer.
Speaking to the Chronicle, Benitez said: “We don’t know how much money we have or what the idea is with some players.
“We need to understand the policy that we have and all these things.
“That will be the main thing in the meeting.”

In the meeting coming up next week, Benitez will surely be given the all clear for certain potential transfer targets from the powers that be, but until this happens, no headway will be made with future summer signings. Although Ashley seems to want to revert back to his own policies regarding transfers, which would see the club signing players under the age of 24, this could be an issue. Depending on which players are available, and which players Benitez actually wants to bring to the club, the up and coming transfer policy may cause some disagreement. Especially with the likes of Salomón Rondón, who is currently at the club on loan, however there has been various whispers of him being signed on a permanent basis; though that may be just fans wishing for the best. This would go against the new transfer policy, should it come into force, but it seems that reaching a compromise with certain players would be something that Benitez seems keen on doing.
