Sky Sports reporter Pete Graves has given his quizzical verdict regarding the ongoing takeover saga at Newcastle United.

It was reported by The Sun on Monday that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has agreed to sell the club to Dubai-based billionaire Sheikh Khaled Bin Zaid Al Nehayan this summer.

There has been lots of speculation regarding the potential takeover of the club, however Graves has taken to social media to express why he is nervous about the speculation.

“I’m not gonna lie… The silence from #nufc AND PL makes me nervous…” said Graves from his personal Twitter account.

“But surely BZG wouldn’t just fabricate all this to me and all the national media? What would they gain, other than awful PR?

“More twists and turns ahead I’m sure.”

OPINION

It would be a tough pill to swallow for the Newcastle faithful should this deal fail to come to fruition, and after a long battle with Ashley over the years they will be hoping that this is not the case in the coming months. It seems likely that the vast majority of Magpies fans will be feeling something similar to Graves, and the silence coming from official club sources does seem a little unnerving for the fans of the club. This would be a huge step in the right direction for Newcastle should the takeover actually be finalised, however there are sure to be nervy times ahead at St. James’ Park as fans wait to see what the future of their club holds. It appears that even the journalists which have been told the valuable information regarding the reported takeover are taking it with a pinch of salt, and are not too sure on what is actually going on behind the scenes, and only once the club have made an official announcement will fans put their minds to rest on the whole situation.
