Reliable journalist Nick Harris has explained Sheikh Khaled’s family tree, and how he is related to Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour.

The Dubai-based figure has been heavily linked with a takeover of Newcastle United, but as yet, nothing concrete has been confirmed from the club.

There have been some questions about his lineage and his relationship with the ruling family in the UAE.

And Harris sought to clear up any confusion in a tweet to his personal Twitter account including an image of the relevant information.

OPINION

This might not be the update that Newcastle fans have been waiting for, but certainly it will be welcomed nonetheless. The more information they can gather on the mysterious Sheikh Khaled the better, and the more they learn, the better placed fans will be to decide whether or not he is the real deal. In this particular instance, it’s hard to tell what this info means exactly. On the one hand, it shows that he is absolutely part of the royal family, albeit in a non-ruling capacity, but the fact the he is a relative outsider compared to Sheikh Mansour of City, for instance, means that he doesn’t have access to the same kind of state resources as the Mancunian owner. That being said, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the money to buy a football club. His personal wealth remains unknown, but if we’re taking baby steps, this is at least confirmation that he is not some elaborate hoaxer.
