COMMENTARY
Many Newcastle fans were blown away by defender Fabian Schar in the 1-0 win against Leicester City on Friday and it was easy to see why. The centre-back was not only an assured presence at the back but every time he charged forward with the ball at his feet, it was a joy to watch. In particular there was one moment during the second-half where Schar glided forward from defence with ease, bypassing several Leicester players, before playing the ball perfectly to Miguel Almiron. While the Paraguayan international didn’t make the most of the opportunity as he blazed his shot over the bar, it still didn’t take away from Schar’s game-stealing moment. It was also no surprise that one Magpies fan below believed that Schar is now worth £30million in today’s transfer market despite the club only believed to have paid £3million for his services in the summer. This is because now that the defender has proven himself in the Premier League, it’s easy to believe that his value is over 10x what it was in the summer.
