COMMENTARY
They say that you need not worry about a striker’s form so long as he is finding himself in the right positions but that was definitely not the case with the Newcastle United faithful on Saturday afternoon versus Crystal Palace. Salomon Rondon found himself time and again with the chance to stick the ball in the back of the net, be it through a header or a shot, but he was wasteful with the opportunities handed his way. In all honesty the Venezuelan could have had a hat trick in the opening 45 minutes and when there is Premier League survival on the line you cannot afford to be wasting such glorious chances. It is no wonder the Toon Army were left tearing their hair out on Twitter, and you have to wonder if this is one of the reasons why West Brom were willing to let him leave the Hawthorns last summer. He has been brilliant for Newcastle this season but this was not his best half of football.
Nothing But Newcastle has rounded up a selection of the Toon Army’s tweets:
Rondon should have scored there really. Come on lads. #nufc

Ooooh Rondon, feel you need to be scoring that. At very least hit the net

Great cross to Rondon, but Rondon heads it over the bar! Should’ve done better there, but running away from the ball as it comes in. #NUFC

Rondon looks like he is laboring a bit out there, just slightly off with his quickness #NUFC
