Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony shared that he thought Newcastle United reported asking price was a bargain after he was asked about buying the club.

The 42-year-old who is the owner and chairman of the League One side responded on his personal Twitter account about the Magpies when asked whether he was interested in purchasing the Premier League side.

“If I had 300 mill I’d be all in :). Bargain,” stated MacAnthony.

OPINION

According to the Chronicle Mike Ashley has set an asking price of £300million for the Magpies and it seems the Peterborough United owner believes that is a bargain. The 42-year-old no doubt knows a thing or two about the value of teams, as he is heavily invested in one himself, so if he believes it’s a reasonable price it must be. The only annoying thing in terms of MacAnthony’s response is that he is not likely to buy the club as clearly his answer implies he doesn’t have the funds needed to get a deal done. While the person asking him is clearly a hopeful Newcastle United fan, supporters are no doubt just hoping someone takes the club off Ashley’s hand shortly. As times drags on, particularly with the January transfer window underway, supporters no doubt are set to grow more and more frustrated with the current Magpies owner as it would be a surprise if he splashes the cash in January.
