It seems like this is happening every single game, but it has to be said: Ayoze Perez was poor once again. The Spaniard did next to nothing going forward and once again he appeared to be a passenger for Newcastle United in their 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Wednesday night. Obviously when you’re playing the big boys you’re not going to be able to do as much as normal offensively, but that didn’t stop Christian Atsu. While the Ghanian was attempting to make things happen at every opportunity, Perez appeared to be devoid of any inspiration. This is becoming a trend with Perez; he just doesn’t seem to offer anything to the team. Obviously Rafael Benitez rates him highly, that’s why he keeps starting games, but his continued inclusion beggars belief when you look at his performances. The most memorable thing he did all night was boot the ball at Anthony Martial’s face and, with that said, it’s easy to see why the Newcastle fans are so frustrated with him.
