Despite all the negativity surrounding Newcastle United at the moment, it looks like fans have found something to cheer about ahead of their FA Cup third round replay against Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night. Manager Rafa Benitez has named an experimental lineup for the match including only a second ever first-team appearance for young winger Cal Roberts, who starts in his favoured position on the flank. Roberts has long been one of the more highly-rated prospects in the Newcastle academy but the 21-year-old has never really been given the chance to shine, or even the opportunity to go out on loan and continue his development in the lower leagues. It is now crunch time in his career at Newcastle and he has been given a big chance to impress against Rovers. Many Newcastle fans seem happy with the decision to play him, as they should be, with the club having had precious few players come through the academy in recent years.
