Newcastle United travel to Ewood Park to take on Blackburn Rovers in their FA Cup third round replay on Tuesday night, and Rafa Benitez is expected to make eight changes to his starting XI.

The Magpies are coming into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat by Chelsea at the weekend, with Benitez’s side unable to capitalise on an equaliser as the Blues pulled away in the second half.

Opponents Blackburn will however be high on confidence after a 2-0 away win over Millwall took them up to 14th place in the Championship table.

In goal, Freddie Woodman is expected to replace Martin Dubravka.

Benitez is expected to revert to a four-man defence, with DeAndre Yedlin, Ciaran Clark, Florian Lejeune, Jamaal Lascelles all expected to drop out for a rest in favour of Javier Manquillo, Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez and rarely-seen flyer Jamie Sterry, who has made just seven first-team appearances.

Left wing-back Matt Ritchie is also expected to be rested in favour of Kenedy, who was unable to play against parent club Chelsea, with the Brazilian deployed further forward on the left flank.

Both Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff are expected to retain their spots in central midfield, with both Jonjo Shelvey and Mohamed Diame out through injury.

Ayoze Perez is the other player expected to keep his place, while Jacob Murphy is thought likely to come in for Christian Atsu, while Joselu is expected to replace Rondon up front.
