COMMENTARY
Newcastle United revealed via their official Twitter account on Monday that midfielder Sean Longstaff had put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the club, and a section of supporters were thrilled with the reveal. The 5ft 11in player (Source: Transfermarket) may only have one appearance for the Magpies’ senior team but his fledgling reputation is well-known around St James Park already. The 21-year-old had an impressive loan spell last season and has been sniffing around the first-team since the summer, and given that not many young players breakthrough at the Magpies, it’s a testament to his ability. Several fans shared that they thought it was great news the club had secured Longstaff’s future but others shared a little bit on concern as they made it clear they wanted to see more of him. Longstaff made the bench for the recent clash with West Ham and one fan pointed out that the player was now at an age where he needs to be playing every week, though they were quick to congratulate the midfielder on the new deal as well.
