Newcastle United would have the upper hand over Bournemouth if attacker Joshua King doesn’t win his race to be fit in time to feature in Saturday’s clash.
The Magpies would be boosted by the news that they wouldn’t have to deal with the 26-year-old, who has been in red-hot form this season, and it would add to the momentum they gained from getting their first win over Watford last weekend.
King has missed the Cherries’ last two league clashes with Eddie Howe re-confirming on the club’s official website ahead of last weekend’s clash with Manchester United that an ankle injury was keeping him out of action.
The forward, who earns £45,000-a-week at the Cherries (Source: Spotrac), recently told Danish broadcaster TV2 that he had a 50/50 chance of making his side’s clash with the Magpies.
That means then there is equally as much chance of him winning his race to be fit as there is losing it, and the Magpies must hope he misses Saturday’s clash.
King has scored four goals in nine league outings so far and has looked a livewire for his side.
While Eddie Howe’s side still have attacker Callum Wilson raring to go and in excellent form himself, the Magpies know they’re in for easier deal if they only have to focus on stopping the English 26-year-old rather than his Norwegian teammate as well.
Given that Bournemouth will be gutted about not having King to call upon if he doesn’t overcome his ankle problem, then it will defiantly boost the Magpies chance of victory in their upcoming clash.
