Former England international Stan Collymore has delivered his prediction for Newcastle United’s clash with West Ham United on Saturday.

The two teams face off at St James’ Park in what is a crucial outing for both teams, and Collymore tweeted on his personal Twitter account that he sees the Magpies taking the victory 1-0.

Rafael Benitez’s side have been buoyed by three straight wins which have lifted them to thirteenth in the Premier League table, on the same points total as the Hammers.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side enter the game looking to bounce back from a 4-0 mauling at the hands of Manchester City last time out.

OPINION

This is a tricky game to predict. Newcastle are the team in form, against all the early season odds, while West Ham are coming off a beating against City. However, Pep Guardiola’s team have already and will continue to do what they did to the Hammers against many teams this campaign. There’s not a whole lot you can read from that game. Newcastle have won a few close games of late, though, and you have to give credit to their organisation and discipline under Benitez. They’re not the most talented team, but they know their roles and they do their jobs to the best of their ability. Pellegrini’s side have more talent, but can they make that count against a solid Newcastle team? The Magpies will be backed to the hilt at St James’ Park so it could be difficult for the Hammers to quieten the vociferous home support. 1-0 to the hosts sounds eminently possible, but this one is so hard to predict.
