Newcastle United need to significantly boost their goal threat in January to help make Rafa Benitez’s job easier and they can easily do that with one swift double-swoop.

The Magpies, according to the Daily Mail, are set to have talks with MLS outfit Atlanta United this week in a bid to step up their efforts to sign attacking midfielder Miguel Almiron.

However the creative playmaker isn’t the only player that the Magpies should try to recruit, they should also be looking at his teammate Josef Martinez.

Martinez has scored an impress 34 goals in 37 outings for Atlanta United in his latest season and looks to be a lethal finisher that could excel in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old forward also has fantastic rapport with potential Magpies recruit Almiron and the duo are better together then they are apart.

Also given that it’s a huge ask for someone to smoothly uproot their lives from America to come reside on Tyneside, if they both made the jump they would help each other settle in quicker.

According to the Daily Mail’s report, Almiron is currently valued at £25million by his side despite his previous price tag being thought to be in the region of £10million (Source: The Sun) not so long ago.

For this reason it might be possible for the Magpies to negotiate a bundle deal for both of Atlanta’s attacking duo which seems them able to be signed within the club’s budget.

Given that the Magpies have the perfect chance to sign Martinez as they are already in contact with the MLS side and have talks planned with them, they should take the opportunity to try the luck.

While the Magpies would have to exploit the planned talks to catch Atlanta off-guard by bringing another one of their players into the conversation, it’s worth doing.

Therefore the Magpies must at the very least try to successfully snatch their perfect chance to sign Martinez during their upcoming talks with Atlanta, as it would be well worth their time.
