Newcastle United demonstrated on Saturday just how much they have improved in terms of their attacking threat – but it was clearly not enough, as Manchester United secured a 3-2 win.

Yoshinori Muto offered something different to United’s firepower and that eventually paid off as he bagged his first goal for the side – but Newcastle really lack players who are energetic and who can provide that cutting edge.

One player who could be able to provide that is winger Victor Fernandez, who according to the Chronicle, is currently sidelined with a heel injury.

They report that the injury is not a “serious” one – which could potentially be fantastic news for boss Rafa Benitez.

The young ace is said to have have blown the Spaniard away with his form in the last year, and even trained with the first team during their pre-season as well as taking part in their mid-season camp in March.

Benitez must reward the youngster for his previous form by handing him a shock first team call up as soon as he has returned from the sidelines, as Fernandez could be the bright spark that makes a real difference on this Newcastle team.

The Magpies have been toothless at times in attack, but those fears could soon be put to bed if Benitez gave this up and coming prospect a shot in the Premier League.

Fernandez may not be the finished article just yet, but he is certainly a player who deserves the opportunity to show off what he can really do in the Premier League.

Being handed a first team start may be what he finally needs to develop into a fantastic player – he is already seriously talented, but that talent could be improved even more with a chance to play in the top flight.

Benitez must recognise his efforts and reward him appropriately – as it could end up proving real dividends to the team.
