A number of Newcastle United supporters were left blown away by youngster Elias Sorensen after he scored a hat trick in the Under-23s’ 5-2 victory over Aston Villa on Monday.
The Magpies bagged the win in Premier League 2, with Sorensen’s treble bringing the 19-year-old’s tally to 11 goals in all competitions this season.
With the first team seriously struggling it is no surprise that the Toon Army have latched onto Sorensen’s performance, with many of them eager for him to be called up to Rafael Benitez’s senior squad.
Nothing but Newcastle has rounded up some of the best tweets below.

Give him a chance in the first team this lad scores pretty much every single game. Send a message out to the senior players and give the young lads something to work for. He's better than what we have got at the moment anyway!

OPINION
It’s easy to see why the Newcastle supporters have gotten so excited about this young man. It seems like a week can’t go by without the Magpies faithful hearing about his goal scoring exploits with the U-23’s. Meanwhile, the likes of Ayoze Perez and Joselu continue to toil up front for the first team. The fans have spoken: Sorensen needs to be involved in the senior set up in the coming months. That wouldn’t be Benitez bowing to public pressure, merely to common sense. You never know how good youngsters can be until you give them a chance, while it’s important to develop an established pathway to the first team. If the other U-23 players see Sorensen performing so well and not getting a call up to the senior squad it could discourage them and suggest they have no chance of making it. Benitez needs to be brave and give Sorensen a chance, Lord knows the 19-year-old’s proved he deserves it.
