Many Newcastle United fans responded to goalkeeper Martin Dubravka’s latest post on social media by expressing their appreciation for him.

The 29-year-old, who has played every minute of the Magpies’ Premier League campaign so far, took to Facebook and Twitter in order to break his silence on social media after not being active as of late.

“I have not been very active on social media, just want to focus even more because we have got some bad luck in past few matches, hope to break it soon and have a confidence boost with Slovakia National team also,” wrote Dubravka, simultaneously posting the message on his Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Upon reading his post, lots of Magpies took the opportunity to praise the shot-stopper with some revealing that they didn’t think the club’s latest poor results weren’t due to his performance.

OPINION

Dubravka’s last tweet before his social media return was on August 26 ahead of the clash against Chelsea and it seems he took a self-imposed break from social media in order to help him focus. However if the 29-year-old had taken a gander at his feeds then he no doubt would have seen a lot of love and support coming from the Geordie faithful despite his side suffering some defeats. As one fan pointed out Dubravka has been brilliant this season and has done himself proud with his displays. The 29-year-old may have conceded six goals in his four outings and only one clean sheet to show for his efforts but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t delivered the goods. Dubravka was particularly impressive during the recent 2-1 defeat to Manchester City as he made several crucial saves in order to give Rafa Benitez’s side a chance of taking a point from the game. While that didn’t end up being the case, supporters are right to heap praise on the Magpies keeper as he has been one of the few highlights so far this season.
