Newcastle United fans must feel like alarms bells are always ringing at their club as if there isn’t a problem on the field there is plenty to worry about regarding what is going on behind the scenes.

A lot of the concern that has caused a state of constant worry among supporters at the club is whether manager Rafa Benitez will stay at St James Park beyond this season.

Given that the managerial genius, who has been worth his weight in gold at the club, is yet to sign a new contract to signal that his future lies at the Magpies then fans are always going to fret.

However the alarm bells should be muted at the club after the Daily Mirror‘s latest report on the manager’s situation does provide a glimmer of hope.

The report shares how the Magpies have rejected all possible contact over replacing Benitez as agents have swooped in to talk about them hiring their clients to take over the reigns of the club.

This action by the Magpies board shows that they are still planning their future with Benitez as if they had doubts then they wouldn’t be so quick to send these agents packing.

While the Mirror’s report does on to share that as it stands Benitez is set to walk away from St James Park at the end of the season, it does provide reasons why Mike Ashley will no doubt cave during his stand-off with the manager to stop this scenario happening.

According to the national newspaper, Benitez leaving will slash the Magpies’ owners £350million valuation of the club and Ashley is a businessman who won’t let them happen at any cost.

The businessman’s love of the club can be questioned but no one will accept that he would be willing to risk seeing the value of the club drop in any way, which means he’ll likely come around and meet Benitez’s demands in order for him to stay.

This all means that the alarm bells at the Magpies must be muted for the time being as this report offers a glimmer of hope about holding on to Benitez and that should be clung to.
