Newcastle United midfielder Henri Saivet will join Turkish Super Lig side Bursaspor on a season-long loan and has arrived in Turkey ahead of his medical, according to beIN Sports Turkey

The Turkish broadcaster pictured Saivet arriving at Istanbul airport ahead of the move, with the Senegal international set to finalise the switch tomorrow (Thursday).

BeIN Sports Turkey quote Saivet as saying: “I am very happy that I came to Bursaspor, and it was very important for me to be transferred here for my career. I will be training with the team after the health check tomorrow. We worked together too, and hopefully everything will be fine. ”

OPINION

It looks like a report yesterday claiming a medical was complete was slightly premature, but a deal for Saivet is quite clearly imminent. The Senegal international was always expected to leave St. James’ Park this summer, but the club will be disappointed that he is again heading out on a loan spell. This is set to be Saivet’s third loan spell in three seasons for the Magpies, and it is likely that this one, like the others beforehand, will be subsidised by the club. Signing the Senegal midfielder has been a disaster from the beginning for the Magpies, with Saivet making just eight appearances for the club since the summer of 2016. In fairness, there will be fans wondering why exactly he has not been given a real shot at the club, with Saviet showing glimpses of real talent during his rare outings. Anyhow, Rafa Benitez has obviously decided he does not want him around and this one is set to be confirmed very soon.
