Newcastle United target Anthony Limbombe is training alone and away from the first team at Club Brugge ahead of a potential transfer, according to HLN.

The Belgian publication claim on their website that Club Brugge winger Limbombe has been ordered to train in exile away from the senior squad with a possible move on the cards.

The report reveals that the 24-year-old is being targeted by Newcastle this summer and his current side hope for a ‘quick solution’ before the English transfer window shuts.

The former NEC Nijmegen rapid winger scored 6 goals and provided 7 assists in 39 appearances in Belgian football last season.

OPINION

This is a real positive bit of news for Newcastle United in the final week or so of this summers transfer window. Limbombe is an exciting young talent who is capable at playing at a higher level and will do well in the Premier League should he make the switch. The only doubt in this deal is whether the Magpies’ owner Mike Ashley is interested enough in bringing players in to even notice this development. If the player is not training with the first team, then he’s obviously for sale and available, which should make negotiations easy. However, with the current ownership and their terrible history with transfer negotiations, nothing is ever easy and if one team could possibly mess this up, then it is the Toon. He is good, he is available and Newcastle should be all over this signing over the next few days, but anything can happen with Ashley and Lee Charnley in charge of negotiations.
