Newcastle United’s final pre-season game saw the Magpies defeated 1-o by German side Augsburg at St James’s Park.
The Bundesliga outfit somehow managed to come out on top, a Michael Gregoritsch header the difference between the two teams.
Rafael Benitez’s side dominated proceedings, and were much improved from their previous humiliation against Braga, but were made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal.
Joselu, the only recognised striker in the matchday squad, was unable to make a lasting impression on his manager as he toiled throughout. Nothing But Newcastle have located some of the best tweets about the Spaniard’s display.
Stop playing Joselu, sell him or give him away but stop wasting time on him, give someone, anyone else a go.

What work rate? Were him and Ayoze playing let's see who can do less? Trotting around no threat whatsoever… We really should be keeping Gayle….

OPINION
Despite being the only recognised centre forward in Newcastle’s match day squad against Augsburg, it’s likely that Joselu will spend the season as the third or fourth choice striker at St James’s Park. New signing Yoshinori Muto will surely be given a chance to displace him, while Salomon Rondon and Danny Ings are both reportedly close to moves. The Spaniard showed again on Saturday why he’s not cut out to be a leading Premier League striker. He works hard but he simply doesn’t have the quality to make a difference against top opposition. Surely his days on Tyneside must be numbered after this year.
