Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons has failed to make a consistent impact on Tyneside and should be sent out on loan to revitalise his career.

The 22-year-old began his Newcastle career in exciting fashion, finding the back of the net against Manchester City and Crystal Palace early on but has failed at St. James’ Park.

However, the Jamaican-born flyer has failed to gain enough appearances at the club, along with failing to recover from the long-term knee injury that kept him on the sidelines for the majority of the 2016-17 campaign.

A loan spell to Serie A side Hellas Verona during the second half of last season failed to unlock his potential and it looks as if Rafael Benitez has lost patience with the winger.

Aarons was not granted a place in the first-team squad by the Spaniard, according to the Northern Echo, ahead of the 2018-19 campaign and a temporary move down the league ladders looks on the cards.

The likes of Kenedy, Jacob Murphy, Christian Atsu and Matt Ritchie all remain above Aarons in the pecking order, and, although three years still remain on his contract, it is unlikely that the youngster will be able to find his way into the first-team squad.

Aarons, who is on £14,000 per-week at Newcastle [Spotrac] has had issues off the pitch which have not helped his promising career and injuries have stopped himself from playing more regularly.

A loan move to a Championship club could be the answer to Aarons’ prayers who can gain experience in the second tier in order to prove his current manager wrong. With the lack of attacking qualities at St James’ Park, Aarons has proved to be a dangerous attacking threat despite the lack of playing time, and his dribbling ability and lightning pace would provide a valuable asset towards any second tier side.

One season could be all it takes for Aarons to stake his claim in Newcastle’s starting line-up next season an get back on the path towards a promising career.
