Newcastle United suffered a 4-0 defeat in pre-season courtesy of SC Braga on Tuesday and this caused several Magpies fans to criticise the performances of several players on social media.
While several members of Rafa Benitez’s squad had fans fuming over their displays, Ayoze Perez in particular had supporters slamming his latest performance.
One fan tweeted that the attacker, who earns £45,000-a-week at St James Park (Source: Spotrac), was not good enough to play in the No.10 role mainly because he lacked composure when it came to deciding on what to do with the ball.
Nothing But Newcastle has rounded up a selection of tweets about Perez’s latest display for the Magpies:

For the love of god @rafabenitezweb i hope you understand you can't go into the season with a no.10 like Perez, Get ANY one even for free

My #nufc HT thoughts.
– We are much better with the ball today but still look absolutely lost when close to the opposition box.
– Lads are defending as though their lives depended on it.
– Ayoze Perez has not had ONE good touch or pass this half, need consistency

Tbh, this has been Perez ever since we got him. But if he can produce the first touch finishes we’ve seen from ten times in a season, then I’ll still love him.

OPINION
While one fan is happy for Perez to have awful games from time to time as long as he delivers his iconic first touch finishes ten times a season, others seem ready to welcome a player to the club capable of replacing the 25-year-old Spaniard. Perez struggled in the Magpies’ latest friendly but he wasn’t alone as several regular Magpies’ first-teamers put in disappointing performances. Hopefully it’s a case of the players getting their bad displays out of the way in pre-season and come the start of the new Premier League season, they will be back to their best. Perez, who finished the club’s topscorer last season, will no doubt have a lot of pressure on him to be an attacking threat throughout the season so perhaps he should be prepared for some overly harsh criticism to come his way if he doesn’t deliver the goods.
