Jorge would be a fantastic Newcastle signing

With Newcastle United reportedly in advanced talks to sign left-back Jorge from AS Monaco, this could be one of the best deals of the window so far for the Magpies.

As reported by Le 10 Sport, the Magpies are in talks to sign the Brazilian defender from the French side, with just hours of the transfer window remaining.

The 22-year-old is one of the best young defensive talents in Europe and his signing would be a major coup for the Tyneside club.

Yes, they have left it very, very late in the window but they should do everything they can to sign the flying full-back as he would solve one of their major problems ahead of the new Premier League season.

At the moment, Rafael Benitez’s side only have Paul Dummett and Achraf Lazaar available to play in that position. However, Dummett has had a lot of injury issues over the past few months and Lazaar is currently out of favour at the club, having made just 10 senior appearances since signing for the Toon from Palermo in 2016.

As such, you can see why the Spanish manager was so keen to look at getting a left-back in this transfer window, with the current options looking unsuitable ahead of next season.

Jorge would not only solve his defensive conundrum, he would make the team much better in terms of quality and would offer a lot more to the team in their overall play.

The Brazilian is a very attacking full-back, who loves getting involved higher up the pitch and closer to the opposition goal. He’s very quick, has a very strong left-foot and has great potential to improve.

If they can get this deal sorted before the transfer deadline, it would go some way to making up for what has been a disappointing transfer window for the club so far this summer.
