A section of Newcastle United fans have taken to Twitter to express their anger after the club were priced out of a move for Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico.

United were said to have identified the 5’6″ (source: Transfermarkt) left-back to join the ranks at St James’ Park, but have been reportedly, as stated by the Chronicle, priced out of a move for the Argentine World Cup star, who had a price tag of £8 million.

The news that the club have missed out on another player has angered a section of the Newcastle faithful, who need another wing-back to cover the likes of Paul Dummett. These comments included “what a shambles” and “we are the biggest joke in the Premier League.”

Nothing but Newcastle has rounded up some of the best tweets:

OPINION

It is no wonder that the Newcastle supporters are fuming that the club claim they have been priced out of a move for Nicolas Tagliafico – some of them are not even that surprised at the news. They have been priced out of players numerous times and are clearly used to the way that the club is being treated by owner Mike Ashley. Boss Rafa Benitez is in need of cover for left-back, but he is not getting very far by the looks of it – he will have to look for players less than £8 million at this rate. It is not the best time to be a Newcastle fan, as they need things to turn around very soon.
