Some Newcastle fans took to social media to react to their club confirming that Chancel Mbemba had completed a permanent move to FC Porto.
In a brief statement via the club’s official website the Magpies stated that the 23-year-old centre-back had joined the Portuguese champions for an undisclosed fee after spending three years at St James Park.
Upon the club confirming Mbemba’s exit, several Magpies supporters tweeted to share their disappointment over him leaving and went on wish him all the best in the next chapter of his football career.
Nothing But Newcastle has rounded up a handful of tweets by Magpies fans about Mbemba joining Porto:
Was never given enough of a chance, such an underrated player, we’ll regret this one

Good luck, shame things didn't work out. I'm guessing this means a new defender is relatively imminent

OPINION
While several Magpies supporters revealed that they thought it was a shame that Mbemba was leaving the club at least the wage bill has been lowered. The exit of the 6ft tall 23-year-old (Transfermarkt) who earned £35,000-a-week at St James Park (Source: Spotrac) will hopefully mean that new faces are about to arrive at St James Park. While the Magpies have acquired a few new recruits this summer, they still need to do more business ahead of the transfer deadline day on August 9. However it seems based on these tweets, whoever rocks up at St James Park in the near future to replace Mbemba won’t stop fans thinking the club could have seen more from the 23-year-old centre-back during his time with them.
