Some Newcastle United fans took to Twitter in order to heap praise on Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron for his performance during his side’s 3-1 win over D.C United on Saturday.
The Sun previously reported that the 24-year-old attacking midfielder was a transfer target for the Magpies as they had started discussing the possibility of a £10million deal for him with his representatives.
It seems a section of Magpies supporters opted to check the player out for themselves during Atlanta’s game against D.C United with a lot of them blown away by his latest display.
One Magpies fan tweeted that they lived in Atlanta and regularly watched Almiron play and claimed that he was definitely worth Rafa Benitez’s side buying.
Nothing But Newcastle have rounded up a handful of tweets by a section of Magpies supporters about Almiron’s latest display:

Hard to tell cause the standard is so varied but Almiron and Martinez do look really good, it's a pity we're not linked with Martinez, he's got a similar build to aguero and tevez and looks very suited to the premiership.

Only caught 5-10 mins of the first half , commentators seemed to be raving about him though. Mentioned a lot as to being able to get in little pockets of spaces.

OPINION
It seems Magpies supporters were convinced that their club should pursue Almiron after watching him shine for Atlanta on Saturday even if some also had their eye on his teammate Josef Martinez. Martinez no doubt caught their attention as the forward scored a hat-trick to get Atlanta the win and it’s well-known that Benitez could do with signing a new attacker this season. While several supporters were quick to praise Almiron for his display, one supporter did point out that playing well in the MLS is one thing but that the Premier League is a different kettle of fish. While it’s hard to argue with that point of view as being good in one country’s top-flight doesn’t mean your excel in another nation’s top division, Almiron shouldn’t be written off for that reason.
