Newcastle United would grab themselves a bargain by being successful in their reported pursuit of Bristol City defender Joe Bryan.

According to a report by The Sun Rafa Benitez is poised to offer the Championship side £6million for their 24-year-old left-back and if he can get a deal done for that price then it will be an excellent piece of business.

Bryan has blistering pace, tricky feet that see him glide past his opposition when on the ball and is able to read the game well enough to constantly intercept the ball.

The 24-year-old constantly proved his promising ability last season in his 48 outings for Bristol City as he was one of their standout performers more often than not in their matches.

Bryan ended up being consistently rewarded due to his efforts as he ended his 2017/18 campaign having scored seven goals, while assisting three which aided his side’s cause dramatically.

The pacey left-back also would be a great signing for the Magpies due to his versatility as he is able to function as a left-back, left-sided midfielder or even in central midfield if necessary.

While there may be a question mark over the 24-year-old rocking up at St James Park next season due to his lack of Premier League experience, his performances against Manchester City last season should reassure anyone who has their doubts.

Bryan played twice against the Premier League champions last season as Bristol City came up against them in the League Cup and he looked able to cope with playing against world-class players.

The Bristol Post  previously claimed that due to the left-sided flyer’s contract expiring next summer then the Championship side may be forced to lower his £10million price tag to ensure they get a respectable fee for him in this transfer window.

This means there is a real chance that Benitez’s potential £6million offer for Bryan could be successful as Bristol City know that time is working against them as we edge closer towards transfer deadline day.

Therefore given that his talents and his age justified his original £10million valuation then the Magpies would be getting themselves a bargain if their successful in their £6million pursuit of the Championship star.
