Newcastle United have confirmed that six of their youngsters have put pen to paper on their professional deals with the club.

The Newcastle United’s official website states that Tom Allan, Lewis Cass, Matthew Longstaff, Oliver Walters, Kelland Watts and Adam Wilson have all agreed terms with the club in order to continue their development with the Magpies.

The website shares that all are boyhood supporters of the Magpies and that all of them have recently progressed out of the club’s Little Benton Academy.

OPINION

The Magpies have done a simple but necessary bit of business by securing six talented youngsters to professional deals. While fans will not be too excited over the news they will be glad to see that young talent is progressing at the club. Wilson, who is one of players to sign a contract, recently won his first cap for the England U-18s and his reputation is starting to proceed. The same can be said for Longstaff whose older brother Sean is also at the club. While it’s very early in all of these players development hopefully this is the start of the Magpies successfully rebuilding their academy in order  to continually supply the first-team with talented options. All of the above players may be a long way off taking to the field as a member of the senior squad but everyone’s football journey starts somewhere. In years to come who knows, these faithful  Magpies supporters may be having their name sung around St James Park.
