Some Newcastle United fans reacted to goalkeeper Matz Sels being pictured back at the club for pre-season training.
The Chronicle put up a gallery of pictures of a lot of the Magpies squad arriving at Benton for the first day of pre-season training on Friday and the 26-year-old being pictured had fans discussing his status at the club.
One Magpies supporter tweeted that they were glad he was acting like a professional and showing up for work, while another suggested that who knows Sels may shine at the club next season.
Shield Gazette reported that the shot-stopper was back for pre-season on Friday after his potential move to Belgium side Anderlecht broke down earlier in the window after a fee couldn’t be agreed with the Magpies.
Nothing But Newcastle has rounded up a selection of tweets by Magpies supporters regarding Sels’ return for pre-season:
I can understand the fella's disappointment around the ordeal, but I'm glad he's acting as a pro and showing up for work. So many primadonna's these days. #NUFC https://t.co/54JCBqbfuh

He has the right attitude, that counts for a lot. It may yet work out well for everyone in the end.

OPINION
Sels enjoyed a successful loan spell at Anderlecht in his 2017/18 campaign, making 37 appearances for the Belgian side, and would no doubt have hoped to be there for the start of the next season. However following a break down in talks with the Belgian club Sels will no doubt try to excel at the Magpies despite previously struggling to establish himself at the club. The shot-stopper has only made a total of 14 appearances for the Premier League side, conceding 13 goals and keeping five clean sheets in the process. Despite his less then flattering statistics for his time at St James Park so far at least he seems to have some support from fans on Twitter even if one sarcastically tried to deny recognising him.
