Newcastle United have reportedly enquired about Deportivo La Coruna defender Fabian Schar, and some fans have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment at the move.
As reported by the Chronicle, the Magpies have contacted the newly-relegated Segunda Division club about a deal for the Switzerland international, who has a £3million release clause.
Fans have now taken to Twitter to react to the news, with many seemingly uninspired at the prospect of moving for the 26-year-old defender, who has 42 international caps.
Nothing but Newcastle have rounded up some of the best tweets:
Watched him quite often for Depor last season, he was awful.

I wish this transfer window was over so we can get on with what we’ve got now, which is inevitably what is going to happen anyway

So choice between relegated Schar or relegated Fernandez… no criticism of them individually but indicative of levels #nufc looking at

OPINION
This section of Newcastle fans seem unenthused by the prospect of signing Schar, but don’t let a disappointing season on a team level with Deportivo affect your judgement of the Swiss enforcer. During his time at Basel he was considered a real talent, and his 42 caps for a Switzerland side that have competed well in European football over the last few years is no mean feat. There is no doubt that Schar would be a good addition for the Magpies, especially at the price of £3million, and these fans will realise that soon enough if the move does happen.
