Newcastle United are interested in full-back Joe Bryan but are struggling to find the funds to make a bid, according to trusted journalist Alan Nixon.

The reliable reporter revealed the Bryan transfer update on his official Twitter account, insisting the Magpies would need to find more money if they were to prise the Bristol City man away this summer.

The report states that the Magpies have not yet got the funds to make a concrete move for the left sided full-back, who has been in impressive form for his club.

The 24-year-old flyer made 48 appearances for City last season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.

OPINION

Joe Bryan was one of the best players in the Championship last season. He showed his ability on a regular basis for Bristol City and was one of the standout players of their impressive season. The 24-year-old is an impressive left-back who is a very consistent performer and contributes so much to a team both offensively and defensively. At his age, the full-back will only get better the more football he plays on a regular basis. The former Plymouth loanee could easily play in the top tier of English football but first, clubs will have to stump up the cash. Newcastle don’t look like they want to at the moment and are having a lot of disappointments in the transfer window so far, with fans unhappy at the lack of money being spent on new recruits. Bristol City shouldn’t hold their breath for a bid from the Magpies any time soon.
