Some Newcastle United fans were not thrilled to hear that a deal for Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro was close to being agreed.
Italian football news site Calciomercato claimed that the Magpies were close to agreeing a £13.2million deal with Juventus and all that all they had left to do was convince the player to make the move.
Calciomercato claimed that after having a difficult season at the Italian giants in his latest campaign, his side could have finally found someone willing to pay the amount needed to take the central midfielder off their hands.
One Magpies fan tweeted that it sounded like they were signing a reserve while another supporter dubbed him the Italian Jack Colback and believed he wouldn’t improve Rafa Benitez’s starting eleven.
Nothing But Newcastle has taken a selection of tweets by Magpies supporters as they react to a report that claims their club is close to signing Sturaro:

Shouldn’t take much convincing. Big Sports Direct mug and a bag for life. Chuck in some Slazenger socks.

Not a particularly great player. But has talent and with regular game time and the faith of Rafa could improve.

Sturaro is a box to mox midfielder…and a bad one at that.
Think Italian Jack colback (minus the ginger pirlo season)
Couple of years ago he showed a lot of promise but has gone backwards since.
He is versatile but can be clumsy on the ball
Would not improve starting 11— joe lewis (@jlews87) July 4, 2018

I'd rather us use that money towards Kenedy, Townsend or Plea since we signed Ki. Unless we sell Merino first

Ludicrous. Anybody who plays @FootballManager knows you can Sturaro for £6.5m! #FM18 #NUFC https://t.co/SDLc3VlaTk

OPINION
Magpies supporters are being awfully harsh about Sturaro potentially rocking up at the club as the midfielder has previously proven his worth for Juventus. The player’s 2017/18 campaign could have been better but the 25-year-old is more than capable of being a success story at St James Park. Sturaro would add a steely presence to the Benitez’s team due to his defensive qualities and would do the dirty work needed to enable his more attacking teammates to push forward. While a section of fans may not be keen on the Italian midfield destroyer currently, he is capable of soon changing their minds if signed this summer.
