Newcastle United have seen a £30,000-a-week offer rejected by Hamburg left-back Josha Vagnoman, according to Hamburger Morgenpost.

The German newspaper report that the 17-year-old prospect is set to sign an extension with the newly-relegated Bundesliga 2 side, despite interest from Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea, alongside Newcastle.

Hamburger Morgenpost claim that Vagnoman rejected a ‘concrete offer’ worth £4.6million over three years, which equates to a weekly salary of £30,000.

Good move for Newcastle United?

The club have obviously seen something in Vagnoman to prompt their big offer, and the left-back is obviously seen as a youngster destined for big things.

His decision to turn his back on heavy interest from the Premier League in an attempt to play more first-team football at Hamburg next season is also admirable, and shows a maturity that is rarely seen in young players today.

There is therefore enough evidence to say that Newcastle would be getting a promising young player in Vagnoman.

However, an offer of £30,000-a-week seems massively excessive, and could have been an amount the club come to regret in the near future.

Likely to happen?

It looks like Vagnoman has decided to reject all advances from Premier League sides to remain at Hamburg next season, with Newcastle’s big offer not enough to tempt the wide man.

Newcastle will therefore have to look elsewhere this summer as they search for young players to bring in.
