Egypt international winger Trezeguet wants to hold talks with Newcastle United despite agreeing a deal in principle to join Galatasaray, according to Fanatik

The Turkish newspaper, as translated by Sport Witness, report that Newcastle are in the hunt to sign the Kasimpasa winger, who wants talks with the club before deciding his next move.

Fanatik claim that Galatasaray have agreed a deal in principle to sign the 23-year-old, who agreed terms on a £1.7m-a-year contract with the Turkish champions.

It is said that Trezeguet has been given 10 days to make his decision after Egypt’s elimination from the World Cup.

The winger reportedly has a release clause set at just £4.4million.

Good move for Newcastle United?

This could be a brilliant move for Newcastle, with Trezeguet impressing massively for minnows Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig last season.

The Egyptian wide man scored 16 goals in 33 games for his club and registered eight assists on top of that, capping off his impressive season by playing at the World Cup with Egypt.

Manager Rafa Benitez is thought to want a new wide man this summer, and Trezeguet could be a good shout for the Magpies with his decent pace and silky skills.

And, amazingly, he is available at an attainable price for Newcastle, with £4.4million representing an absolute steal in today’s market.

Likely to happen?

The likely move here is for Trezeguet to head to Galatasaray, where he has allegedly agreed a £1.7million-a-year contract.

However, his desire for talks with Newcastle throws things up in the air a bit, and shows that he is keen on a move to England, which will obviously work in the Magpies’ favour.

Depending on how these reported talks go, Newcastle could well be in with a shout of convincing the Egyptian of a move to St. James’ Park, in what would be a fine first signing of the summer for the club.
