Freddie Woodman is set to talk with Rafa Benitez about his Newcastle United future in July after he returns from his holidays, according to the Chronicle.

The Northern paper state that the 21-year-old goalkeeper, who featured against Luton Town in the FA Cup for the Magpies last season before being loaned out to Aberdeen, has clubs queuing up take him on loan for next season.

The Chronicle report that Woodman’s long list of admirers are thought to include two Scottish Premiership sides, a team from the English Championship as well as three teams for England’s League One.

OPINION

Woodman recently impressed many people with his displays for England’s U-21s side at the Toulon Tournament but according to the Chronicle there were already several clubs keen on him ahead of his latest performances. It seems clear based on this report that Woodman will spend another temporary spell away from the club. The promising keeper is way down the pecking order as he looks likely to be Benitez’s fourth choice keeper and this should see the player as well as his club want to secure a move away for him for the 2018/19 season. With a range of clubs from a variety of leagues known to be in the race for his services it’s just important that he goes somewhere where he will be the clear number one choice between the sticks. The 21-year-old has a huge amount of potential, which was briefly seen in his FA Cup outing for the club, and choosing the right move will prove critical to his chances of achieving success at St James Park in the future.
