Newcastle United must snatch Everton’s dazzling 20-year-old attacking midfielder Kieran Dowell to end their need to find a new No.10 in this window.
The Magpies are interested in signing a new No.10 as Rafa Benitez is determined to solve that problem position ahead of the new season, according to the Chronicle, and the club are keen to add young British talent to their ranks.
It is believed that the Magpies will look abroad to find a proven option to address their need for a No.10 but that the club will also monitor the domestic market just in case any young British talent becomes available.
Benitez shouldn’t sit around for the Toffees to open the door for enquires about Dowell instead he should kick it open as the 20-year-old, may not be proven in the Premier League, but he is talented enough to end the club’s search for a No.10.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder flourished in the number ten position for a large portion of his loan spell at Championship strugglers Nottingham Forest last season, ending his campaign with 10 goals and five assists in 43 appearances.
Dowell has even made a notable impact since the domestic season ended, as on Sunday the midfielder showed off his promising potential by scoring in the final of the Toulon Tournament for England’s U-21s to help his nation lift the trophy.
While the midfielder had a few rough spells during his recent loan spell at Forest, brief periods of bad form that he has clearly learnt from already, Dowell is ready to take the Premier League by storm.
So far in his fledgling career, the Toffees have wasted their opportunity to use their dazzling gem by allowing him only to feature three times.
While Dowell may not have been seen as good enough to push on with the club’s ambitions in recent seasons, his ability warranted being used more than that at Goodison Park.
As he may feel himself that he has been wasted, there’s a real opportunity for the Magpies to snatch the promising youngster and unleash him on the Premier League as his contract is set to expire in 2019.
If Benitez’s side swoop now then the Toffees might cash-in on him to ensure they get a fee as perhaps there is a real chance that those at Goodison Park are ignorant to the talent they have on their hands.
Therefore the Magpies must scoop up Dowell in this window in order to bolster the no.10 position with the perfect young British talent they desire.
