Newcastle United need a new striker this summer, and while the temptation may be to look far and wide, there are some brilliant deals available closer to home.

According to the Mirror, Everton are looking to offload around 12 players this summer as the club look to clear their wage book and raise funds for new boss Marco Silva to re-invest.

Among the names that the club are looking to sell this summer are both young players and established ones, with the Toffees eyeing a big overhaul of their squad.

One player named as being on the chopping block is striker Oumar Niasse, and Newcastle must consider a swoop for the 28-year-old this summer.

The Senegal international is coming off an impressive season which saw him net nine times in 25 appearances all competitions, with three assists on top of that.

While Niasse is not the most prolific striker around, his record still speaks for itself, with many of his minutes this term coming from the bench.

He offers a high-energy presence up front, with his hard work and effort allowing him to lead the line well on his own, which is exactly what Newcastle need next season.

His finishing ability is much improved and his pace is decent, allowing him to get into good positions while also giving him an edge over defenders.

His 6ft frame [Transfermarkt] gives him enough size to pose a problem in the air, while also allowing him to hold up the ball well and involve teammates in attack.

With Everton looking to offload the 28-year-old you would think that the fee for Niasse would not be prohibitive, with Everton having bought him for £13.5million in 2016.

If Newcastle were able to wrangle that down to around £10million this would be a brilliant deal for all involved, and would give the Magpies something to work with up front next term.
