Mike Ashley must grab the bargain of the summer for Newcastle United by snapping up Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere if he does indeed become available for a free transfer.

According to the latest report on the midfielder’s Gunner future, courtesy of the Daily Star, the 26-year-old is set to discuss his future with new boss Unai Emery later this month.

The newspaper claim that Wilshere could walk away from the Emirates for free, after rejecting their offer of a new deal, with his contract set to expire at the end of June.

It also believed that Rafa Benitez’s team, along with West Ham, Wolves, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Everton, are in the hunt for the player’s service if he chooses to leave the Gunners this summer.

The Magpies shouldn’t just be aiming to be in the race for the midfielder they must ensure they win his services by the time it’s all said and done.

The Magpies owner may have to hand Wilshere a hefty pay packet, according to Total Sportek his current Arsenal contract sees him earn £90,000-a-week, to seal a deal but given the fact there will be no steep transfer fee required, Wilshere will be the bargain signing of the summer.

He may have missed out on making England’s squad for the World Cup but after impressing in the majority of the 38 appearances he made in the 2017/18 campaign his talent is there for all to see.

Wilshere finally looks like he able to stay fit and when you consider his passing ability and proven Premier League experience, the midfielder would be a welcomed sight at St James Park.

Even though he is 26-years-old with Benitez’s guidance, the midfielder could unlock even more of his potential as the genius Spanish manager has a knack for transforming players for the better.

It is a rare sight for a player who regularly featured for a top-six PL side in their latest campaign to be available on a free transfer, particularly when you consider how good his displays were.

Therefore given his 2017/18 campaign, top-flight experience and general ability, Ashley must grab the Magpies the bargain of the summer by ensuring this side win the hunt for Wilshere if he becomes available.
