Newcastle United are monitoring midfielder Jack Grealish’s current situation at Aston Villa alongside a host of other Premier League clubs, according to the Chronicle.

The Northern newspaper claim that Magpies boss Rafa Benitez wants a forward-thinking creative midfielder and that the current 22-year-old Villans maestro would certainly fit the bill.

The Chronicle report that with the Magpies’ current transfer budget unknown the club are looking at options that could be available at cheaper than normal prices, and given the Villans’ financial problems the club are keeping an eye on Grealish.

Good move for Newcastle United?

Yes.

Grealish could be a creative spark in the centre of the club’s midfielder that teams up with Jonjo Shelvey to puts chances on a plate for a forward to easily fire home.

If the 22-year-old can be snapped up for a fraction of his price due to the Villans’ financial crisis, as reported by the Financial Times, then they simply must.

The only issue as the Chronicle state there are a whole host of Premier League clubs keeping an eye on Grealish situation with it even being suggested that a stunningly high £40million price tag has been slapped on his head.

He’s good but not that good.

Likely to happen?

With teams such as Leicester City, West Ham and Everton, Arsenal and Manchester United all being linked to the maestro at one point or another, according to the Chronicle, it seems unlikely.

The newspaper’s detailed report states that Grealish is considered an option to look at when trying to be smart with the club’s budget so if the troubled Villans hold out, there’s likely to be a club willing to pay over the odds for their star.

It is also claimed that the Magpies have a list of targets to go through so it’s not like all their eggs are all in one basket when it comes to pursing a midfielder who excelled in his 27 Championship outings last season.
