Newcastle United fans on social media reacted to the idea that the club had bid £11million in order to try and sign Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro.

Italian news site Tuttomercatoweb reported on Sunday that the Magpies have made their opening offer in their pursuit of signing the 25-year-old but that it was below Juventus’ valuation of their player.

It is believed that the Italian giants are looking for a fee nearer £17.4million but would lower their demand in order to consider bids between £13.1million and £13.9million in order to seal his exit.

Magpies supporters were slightly split on how they felt upon reading this report as some were happy to hear that a bid was being made rather than the club just registering an interest.

However one fan stated that it was a classic move by the club as it was the Magpies simply launching a bid in order to argue that they’ve tried as they know that the player is worth way more than their offer.

A large majority of supporters clearly already frustrated by the club’s transfer window suggested that they didn’t believe this report about a bid being made.
