Newcastle United are set for a major rejuvenation of their attacking ranks this summer after a campaign where the Magpies have been inconsistent in the final third, which could lead to a number of departures.

Rafael Benitez is keen to cash-in on in-form forward Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has excelled on-loan with promotion-chasing Fulham, but he may not be the only forward to leave St. James’ Park this summer.

Dwight Gayle, Newcastle’s joint top-scorer with five goals this season, is attracting plenty of interest andĀ The SunĀ names Swansea City as the latest side to eye a deal for the 28-year-old forward.

Interest in Gayle is high, with Fulham also keen on a deal, but it’s understood that Gayle is happy on Tyneside and is not seeking an exit, despite the prospect of having to fight for his place next season if a new striker is signed.

With Mitrovic set to be sold and Islam Slimani returning to parent club Leicester City, Gayle and Joselu will be the only two recognised strikers in the squad and Benitez is likely to sign a new star.
