Newcastle Untied have to find a solution to their problems in front of goal next season and adding a new centre-forward has to be imperative for the club.

The Magpies need to back manager Rafael Benitez in the summer transfer window and that means spending fees around the club-record £16million sum that was paid for Michael Owen in 2005.

One man that should appear on their radar is Leicester City’s Ahmed Musa, who is renowned for his lightning speed and efficiency in front of goal.

The 25-year-old could become a hero at St James’ Park if given the opportunity and was in brilliant form out on loan at Russian outfit CSKA Moscow in the second half of the season.

The Leicester Mercury reports that that CSKA are planning a summer raid to land the Nigeria international on a permanent basis and that there was no automatic option to buy in the loan deal.

It is understood Leicester are yet to make their mind up on his future, but will want to recoup as much of the £16million they signed him for if he departs.

Newcastle should go all out to try bring him in ahead of next season and the speed demon would be a real asset to Benitez’s squad, offering a greater goal threat than Dwight Gayle and Joselu.

Musa has endured a frustrating time so far in England with Leicester, but his opportunities have hardly been great and he has the potential to thrive elsewhere.

The striker scored seven goals in just 16 appearances for CSKA and certainly has the attributes to frighten Premier League defences if given regular action.

Newcastle fans love a goalscoring machine at St James’ Park and have had plenty over the years, which is why Musa has the potential to follow suit if he hits the ground running.
