Newcastle have twice tried to sign Rodrigues this season and it may be a case of third time lucky with the Cape Verde international reportedly featuring high on Benitez’s transfer wishlist.
The 27-year-old was once again scouted by United’s recruitment team during Galatasaray’s 2-0 victory over city rivals Besiktas, a game he scored in during an impressive display that underlined why Benitez is keen to have him on board next season.
Renowned for his pace and dribbling ability, £20 million-rated Rodrigues is a skillful left-winger who has developed an eye for goal this season, finding the net on eight occasions and assisting another eight to illustrate his productive tendencies in the final third.
